West German Infantry vs Russian Afghansty in Hasty Attack near Liepzig

German infantry, harder to dig out than an Alabama Tick

Firestorm Stripes! I was finally able to play my first game of the new Team Yankee Campaign being put on by Beast of War, Firestorm Stripes! Because all my Americans are painted to fight in the desert I decided to play my West Germans. Our FLGS, Lords of War, signed up to allow us to play the campaign. The first game of the evening saw the Russian advance roll over the British in Hanover. My first game was against Shawn and his Red Army, we agreed to play 64 points with me defending in the Liepzig sector against a Hasty Attack.

Set Up
Objectives are top centre where the Hinds are circling (really loitering off board) and bottom centre on the road in front of the woods

Russian Horde ready to advance against the allied scum

Stout-hearted West Germans dug in along the tree lines

More German infantry holding the line

Turn 1
Both platoons of Hinds drop from the skies and obliterate the M109s

Milans and APCs return fire

Downing 2 Helos and causing a platoon to flee!

Turn 2
Recently arrived BM21s open fire hitting but causing no damage

Russian Infantry try to move through the fields but are engaged by the West Germans knocking out a few stands

The hut and the field provide concealment but the West Germans continue to make the Russians pay dearly

Turn 3
Russians continue to advance, this time the Hind knocks out an OCs M113

The Shilkas and Marders begin to duel after the Marders and their infantry take the centre of the table. Marders armour makes the difference as the Marders knock out 3 Shilkas with a roll of 3, 5s!

T64s arrive from reserves and are immediately greeted with a mouth full of Milans that knock out one

Turn 4
The Leo1s spring from ambush to add their fire on the encroaching Russian infantry, in response the Hinds engages the Leo1s and takes one out.

With the lead platoon reduced to 4 stands they shift towards the flank to allow fresher troops forward

Despite assaulting from the flank the defensive fire takes out another 2 stands and pins the assault

The remaining Leo1s knock out the recently arrived Storms

The West Germans keep pouring on the fire taking out both Russian Infantry platoons while the Milans knocked out the remaining Hind. With only the company commander left in the formation the Russians decided to halt their advance and reinforce success elsewhere.

The defence around Liepzig held firm and allowed for the Allies to take Plzen, hopefully cutting off a major Russian thrust.
