Aquino Weekend 2019 at Ontario Regiment Museum

The USMC M60 "Gumpy" from the Gulf War

I had the opportunity to attend Aquino weekend 2019 at the Ontario Regiment in Oshawa. It was a fantastic time and I took a bunch of pictures for people to be able to reference. The coolest part about these tanks and the museum is the partnership they have with World of Tanks. A lot of the vehicles and sounds from the museum have made their way into World of Tanks on the PC. See if you can spot any of your favourite tanks in the pictures. Enjoy!

T-54/55 or T-62?

I had the chance to stop at CFB Borden the other day and got to see a bunch of AFV that are on display around the base. Enjoy!

New Brunswick Military Museum

The North Shore Regiment was raised in New Brunswick and landed on D-day as part of the 3rd Canadian Division on Juno beach

I recently had the opportunity to check out the New Brunswick war museum.  I didn't get pictures outside where all the vehicles were parked (I will there was a lot) but here are some of the inside WWII pictures. I was really impressed with the knowledge level of the staff and how great everything look.  The museum isn't fully finished but what they do have done is top quality.  There are items and displays dating back to 1640 all the way to Canadas latest war in Afghanistan.

Sandbags a Tanks best friend?

Patton and an Easy 8!

I started doing some more research into how the sand bags looked on the Sherman tanks and it looks like the ones I've made a little big.  So now I need to figure out if I'm going to strip them all off or if I going to use them anyways.  I'm leaning towards using them in there current state as they look good and like much of the detail done by BF models the details are enlarged so you can see them on the table top without having to be right on top of them.  I figured that there would be a bunc of people that would like to see the various reference pictures that I foun so here they are.

More reference photo photos!

No one likes the team killer flame throwing guy, jj

This week we spent the time in Normandy hall which has a bunch of new pictures that are awesome!  The last group of pictures generated a bunch of comments, hopefully this group will too.  Again, if you know what something is and I have labelled it incorrectly, let me know so I can fix it.  Enjoy!

Reference Photo Photos....

March of the Churchills!

I've been in Kingston on course since the beginning of January and will be there until the end of March so I have been more than a little busy, hence no real posts.  One of the really cool things about the course is the number of black and white photos of the 2nd World War that they have hanging in the halls of the buildings.  I asked if they had digital copies of the pictures and no one really knew, so I snap these with my iPhone.  Here is the first of the collection, I don't know what everything is in these photos so some of the captions will be best guesses.  Hope you enjoy!

Reference Pictures part 2

Here are some more of the pictures that I was able to take at the Museum or in front of 2 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Petawawa.  If I have something mislabeled let me know so I can sort it out.

Reference Photos galore!

After the Remembrance Day ceremonies we went up on base and I took some pictures of the different pieces on the base.  They aren't all WWII there is a bunch of Canadian equipment that was used after the war.  Everything wasn't labelled so sometimes this will be my best guess.  Hope you enjoy!

Tank Man part 3!

This is the final installment of the Tank Man pictures (for now).  If you haven't gone to his site I recommend it, he's got some fantastic stuff up there.  Coming soon, the Brit Mortar platoon is finished and I need to paint the Achilles crews.

Tank Man part 2!

There were just so many cool pictures on the Tank man site I just couldn't help but pull some more off to share.  I have 4 more here and another post of 4 coming for everyone.  Hopefully, I'll get up to the museum in Petawawa and take some pictures of the displays they have.

Tank Man!

Matt Varnish from the Table Top Tacticians is very big on creating a historically accurate force and he is taking his Brits from the Desert up into Italy for Late war, so he asked about markings.  One of the other guys Rob gave us this website Tank Man.  Take a look at his pictures, I've only grabbed a few WWII ones to share.

I'm working on some mortars for my Brits in order to get ready for Battle Cry in Petawawa later this month.  I should have them done in the next couple of days and will post pictures.  Hopefully I'll get a couple more games in before the tournament.  If so I'll try and make AARs from them.
