SETUP AND DEPLOYMENT
Objective is in the back right of the table. Pieper's forces are ready to roll out in the desert, wait...what? |
The KTs are ready to protect the flanks of the Pumas and half tracks |
The Panther's set up on a hill to provide covering fire |
Panzerwerfers spread out to avoid the Me 262 |
Half tracks ready to race to the undefended objective |
The Pumas Recce forward of the spear head moving half tracks |

|
Kampfgruppe Pieper: Panther's will hold the flank while the Pumas and half tracks move for the objective. Matt's KTs will attack in the middle and protect my right flank from newly arrived reserves. German Infantry: Mobile Reserves limited what could be deployed, hopefully the reserve rolls go well and the Panzer IVs are in sooner than later. |
TURN 1
KTs wheel into place and prepare to open fire! |
The desert hard pan allow the Pumas and half tracks to close on the objective in no time |
German infantry race forward in their own half tracks and then dismount |
Newly arrived AA trucks and the half tracks open up on Piepers half tracks, knock out 3 and killing 3 x infantry stands |

Kampfgruppe Pieper: This turn didn't go as I thought, the grenadier platoon lost almost all the half tracks and our armour didn't do anything so to speak. German Infantry: The AA trucks punched through the half tracks and there is now a platoon almost on the objective, that went better than expected given how things looked right after deployment. |
TURN 2
PaK 43's spring their ambush firing wildly at the Panther's and miss! |
Only to have the Panther's return fire knock out 2 guns and force the platoon to flee |
A Me 262 swoops down and adds it's fire against the grenadier platoon |
The lone half track opens up on the AA trucks and takes them both out! |

Kampfgruppe Pieper: This turn went a little better with 2 platoon kills against Jay. He will be forced to make company motivation next turn! German Infantry: Stupid AA trucks having a glass jaw. Now its easy to see why armoured AA is so much better. The infantry in the centre took a pounding and will have to unpin if they will be useful this next turn. |
TURN 3
More Me 262s swoop down this time taking out a Panzerwerfer |
Puma's and KTs add their fire to knocking out infantry stands, amazingly taking them below half and forcing them to flee! |
Panther's begin their march forward, unable to hit the crafty 2IC |

Kampfgruppe Pieper: With 3 platoon kills and Jay testing we figured the trick would to now watch out for the on coming reserves. Otherwise our plan was working and we had recovered from the devestation caused in the first turn. German Infantry: Jay had to roll company moral, which he failed but the tournament organizer gave everyone a reroll ticket they could use at any time and Jay used his and passed, safe for another turn. |
TURN 4
Panzer IV's knock out both KTs!!!!! |

|
Kampfgruppe Pieper: The Panzer IVs opened up the KTs to only then be opened up by the Pumas from behind. Both sides traded platoon kills (but this is the first time Matt Varnish has lost this platoon). German Infantry: The picture is a misdirection, at the beginning of turn 4 Jay failed his company moral (before the reserves arrived) and broke ending the game. Since we wanted to still play we called the offical game and rolled into the unoffical injury time. |
A great game to start the day! Both Matt Varnish and I were a little worried after the brillant first turn of shooting Alex and Jay had. The devestating bombardment template hits a lot but we were lucky with our saves or the lack of fire power. In the end we won 6-1 and were ready for our next game, stay tuned for Kampfgruppe Pieper vs the British in Free for All. |
