Skirmish FoW Round 2 Kiwi Infantry vs German Pioneers in Free-for-All

Shermans make short work of the Pioneers in the open!

The 2nd game of the tournament was against Table Top Gamers Diragi who was playing a German Pioneer list that looked like this

HQ
Infantry Company Comd

Combat
2 x Pioneers platoons with 2 Flame throwers and a Goliath

Support
2 x StuGs
4 x Brumbars

SET UP
My objectives are in the two corners while the two destroy Tigers on my side of the table are Diragi's objectives.

Pioneers and Brumbars secure one objective.

StuG's secure the small town able to cover either objective.

Pioneers with a Goliath cover the other objective.

With the Brumbars on my far left I deploy almost everything on the far right.  Here the guns hold the objective while Shermans, UCs and an Infantry platoon prepare to advance.

To keep him honest I deploy two platoons of infantry and the OC on my left flank.

TURN 1
The UCs move forward with their Recce move followed by getting the first turn and they hammer the Pioneers killing a stand.

The Shermans are wary of the StuGs main gun and attempt to use the ground as much as possible, while the infantry clear the houses around the gun line as they advance towards the objective.

The Pioneers and StuGs response by bailing a UC and causing the others to withdraw.

The Brumbars move out to get into the fight on the far right flank.

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer stand

Kiwi
Nil

TURN 2
The Pioneers in the open are quickly gunned down by the Shermans causing the platoon to break and flee.

The Shermans are on firing shooting down the loan Stuka which answered the call for help.

Pioneers learn from their brethren's mistake and dig in on the objective.

The Battery Commander has a commanding view from a destroyed church steeple.

The 8 guns fire on the StuGs hoping to bail them.

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer platoon

Kiwi
Nil

TURN 3

The UCs and Shermans move to secure the objective.

The way cleared by both Recce and Armour allows the infantry to double forward under cover from observation.

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer platoon

Kiwi
Nil

TURN 4

The StuGs must move to ensure the game continues but suffer a bailed tank in the process.

The UCs race away from the StuGs and avoid the Brumbars with the intent of getting to the other objective unnoticed.

A Kiwi platoon advances on the other objective.

The Pioneers come out of their foxholes to gun down 4 stands of the Kiwi's in the open.

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer platoon

Kiwi
4 x Infantry stands

TURN 5

StuGs continue to stick close to the objectives while trying to avoid the fire from the Kiwi guns.

The Pioneers are left exposed and are hammered by Kiwi Arty knocking out a stand while the remaining infantry move to assault.

The UCs sneak past the Brumbars!

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer platoon
1 x Pioneer stand

Kiwi
4 x Infantry stands

TURN 6

The Shermans get around behind the StuGs and take them both out!

The Maori's assault knocks out another two stands but the Pioneers withdraw to reorganize.

The Brumbars are finally able to bring their guns to bear knocking out a Sherman!

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer platoon
3 x Pioneer stand
StuG platoon

Kiwi
4 x Infantry stands
1 x Sherman

TURN 7

The Shermans move to get flank shots while Kiwi arty bails tanks and the Maori's assault killing 2 Brumbars!!!!!!!

The German assault takes out the rest of the platoon and leaves them holding the objective, just in time for the UCs to arrive!

Casualties
German
1 x Pioneer platoon
3 x Pioneer stand
StuG Platoon
2 x Brumbars

Kiwi
5 x Infantry stands
1 x Sherman

TURN 8

Shermans, Arty and Infantry continue to try and take out the last 2 Brumbars.

The UCs scale the wall and then gun down and assault the remaining Pioneers knocking out another 2 stands and securing the objective.

The Pioneers fail their moral check and flee the field, leaving the Kiwi's victorious!  So because I lost a platoon this is a 5 - 2 win.  I'm hoping that I'll get the final Skirmish AAR done before monday.
